Sig Sauer P6

I picked up a German police surplus P6 from Centerfire Systems recently. I've been wanting a cheap 9mm to abuse at the range, but I got a lot more than I asked for.

It's in incredible shape for an almost 30 year old gun.

Ok, but how does it shoot?

All shots were at 7 yards.

It shoots very well, it's not going to replace my 1911's, but it's definitely a keeper.

It reminds me of my old Springfield XD pistols in that it requires a lower grip than I prefer. If I grip it as I usually do my 1911's, my hand rides on the slide stop and prevents the slide from locking back. This grip necessitates my pinky to be under the bottom of the magazine. (A 2 finger grip instead of 3 fingers).

The trigger is remarkably long and heavy on double action. It wouldn't surprise me if it measured 15 lbs. Single action is better, but still a bit long and with a long reset. I would guess it was on the order of 5 lbs. Still, despite the long DA pull, I shot DA and SA to the same point of impact.

My trigger finger is pretty sore from rubbing on the trigger guard. The heavy pull and low grip caused it to rub pretty badly.

Despite the fact that I can't get a full grip on the gun, it's very controllable, even in rapid fire.

All in all, it's a great gun and great bargain. I think with a new main spring, and trigger it will be a lot more comfortable to shoot.
